Bigger and Better for 2015!

Candlelight Ski/Hike Snowshoe

Valentine's Day, February 14th

New this year:  The warming station will move to the north shelter . . . just north of the beach parking lot . . . to provide more room for the many attendees.  Now visitors will have room to drink hot chocolate and eat popcorn without bumping into other people.  We will have plenty of heat to make things cozy, and of course a big, cheerful bonfire nearby.

What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day that candle-lit trails, a romantic bonfire and warm beverages.  Plus, the attendees of this event are some of the most cheerful you will see all winter!

Friends of Pike Lake and local DNR staff will provide over a mile of lighted, flat-groomed trail for skiing, hiking or snowshoeing.  In the event of no snow, we will still have the trails lighted for hiking and all the supporting amenities.

Our friends from the Northern Cross Science Foundation will be back with their telescopes to help visitors see the glory of the winter night sky.

We hope to see you at the Pike Lake Unit . . . 6:00-9:00 pm.   Parking stickers are required and will be available onsite.  Of course, you can get yours earlier at the DNR office open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (and sometimes on weekends) or by self-registering at either parking lot or at other State Parks and Forests sites.
